The City of Bee Cave was first settled in the 1850’s but didn’t officially exist until 1987. Bee Cave TX its name from native colonies of Mexican honeybees that lived on the banks of Barton Creek and Little Barton Creek which covered a large area of Western Travis County. The City of Bee Cave got its start in 1987 and encompasses two-square miles with almost 9,000 acres of jurisdiction. The 1990 population was approximately 214 people, and the establishment of the City of Bee Cave was official. Today, the City of Bee Cave has an estimated population of 3,925 (2010 estimate). In 2008, the New City Hall building was opened. The innovative two story design features 10,000 square feet of municipal offices, 5,000 sq ft of community space, a 5,000 sq ft Public Library, and approximately 9,500 sq ft of expansion space. The City Council has also adopted a Parks and Open Space Master plan that includes the 50-acre Central Park located in the heart of the city.

Bee Cave Texas is a small community of beautiful homes surrounded by some of the Texas Hill Country’s most picturesque scenery.  It lies 12 miles west of Austin in western Travis County. All of Bee Cave covers just 2.6 square miles.

The city of Bee Cave is served by the Lake Travis Independent School District. There are two elementary schools, Bee Cave Elementary and Lake Pointe Elementary. Lake Travis Middle School and Lake Travis High School serve the community of Bee Cave.
